In today’s blog update, we will be talking about the New Pathway announced by Government of Canada to Hire Foreign Workers
The new pathway is called; Recognized Employer Pilot
It was observed that Canada has been taking a major precautions to ease the hiring of foreign nationals via the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) by initiating the Recognized Employer Pilot (REP). This scheme plans to help entitled Canadian employers with more rationalized access to labor, upholding the highest values in worker protections.
Phase One: Agriculture Sector
Please keep in mind that from September 2023, the REP will originally be accessible for employers in the main agricultural sector. The good news is that they can apply in time for the 2024 season, paving the way for a more effectual hiring method.
Phase Two: Other Industries
Please note that in January 2024, the REP will spread to other industry sectors, accepting applications till September 2024. The program proposes a basic application process, less points of contact with Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), and a Job Bank designation to demonstrate recognized status.
Benefits of REP
Employers who become recognized under REP will get access to Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) validity periods of up to three years. This will allow them to employ more temporary foreign workers with basic LMIA applications.
