In the latest updates, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada have revealed the following measures they are implementing to improve processing times and to make the visa application process simpler:
- Firstly, the IRCC has been giving priority to applications from candidates with backgrounds in essential fields such as agriculture, transportation, and health care, where labor is urgently needed to protect Canadians’ health and guarantee an adequate supply of food.
- IRCC also made an announcement to extend the work permits for candidates who are progressing from the temporary resident to permanent residence pathway and also for those whose post-graduation work permits were about to expire.
- All visitors to Canada with valid temporary residence status, irrespective of when they came, are now allowed to apply for an employer-specific work visa under an extended public policy.
Particularly, the IRCC has increased staff by recruiting more employees to increase the amount of applications being processed and speed up processing times. The IRCC has also increased their resources by using the latest technologies to support their staff in visa processing.
The actions put in place by the IRCC to lower the backlog and speed up visa application times are already showing signs of success.
