Recently, Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced a program that will raise the number of Canada’s foreign professionals and students.
The plan will draw in foreign professionals with skills and vast work experience for permanent residence in Canada, particularly in fields with a labour shortage.
The action transpired following the House of Commons approval of the Liberal MP Randeep Sarai’s Private Member’s Motion M-44.
Sarai tweeted, stating that he looks forward to ensuring all temporary foreign workers and international students discover a pathway to permanent residency.
The present Canadian government is considering various routes to draw in permanent residency for skilled foreign nationals, as temporary international workers are essential to the country’s economy.
Immigration Minister Sean Fraser added that foreign workers contribute a broad range of skill sets and educational backgrounds and assist corporate development, creativity, and productivity, all of which benefit Canada’s economic recovery and growth. He said that they also aid in solving the current workforce demands of various companies.
As per the Labour Force Survey for May 2022, the only sector to have exhibited some development has been the scientific, professional, and technical services sector, which has revealed an increase of more than 10,000 jobs. The gain has been primarily in tech professions such as computer systems design and related services.
The survey also states that the rate of job vacancies in the health care and social services sectors has grown dramatically to 143,000 vacancies or 6.1%.
