The International Sportsperson route is known to be one of the top sponsored visa routes in the UK. This route offers a bright chance for internationally established athletes and coaches to come to the UK for about a period of 3 years.
If you have an employer then they must have an International Sportsperson Sponsor License to be able to sponsor you. If they don’t have one already then they would need to acquire the sponsor license application from the Home Office. The job role that you are being sponsored for must meet certain criteria, including:
- Minimum required skill level
- Minimum salary threshold (depending on the role)
The international Sportsperson visa must have an endorsement by an approved Sports Governing Body. This endorsement will confirm a few things such as:
1: You are internationally established at the highest level.
2: You will make a good contribution to the development of your sport for the better in the UK.
3: You have a minimum level of English language.
If you are successful, your significant other and children can apply to join you as well. They can come as a dependants on your visa.
After 5 years, when you are still in the UK working as an International Sportsperson, you are eligible for the application of Indefinite Leave to Remain.
