UK-India agree partnership to boost work visas for Indians

New Uk-india Visa Agreement Announced

Today’s blog is about the visa agreement made between the UK and India.

A reciprocal migration deal was finalized by the UK with India before the first meeting between Rishi Sunak and Narendra Modi.

Up to 3,000 visas will be issued to degree-educated young Indians to work in the UK for up to 2 years, based on the deal that was made at the G20 summit held in Indonesia.

For people aged 18 to 30, India will offer the same number of visas to Britons and will be initiated the following year.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stated that he understands the value of the UK’s deep cultural and historical ties shared with India. He feels pleased that more young people from India will be able to avail the opportunity to experience their life living in the UK, what it has to offer them, and vice versa. It will help in building up solid economies and making societies more wealthy.

As a part of a hoped-for trade agreement, the deal proposed by the UK is a sign of granting more work and study visas to Indian Nationals. On 24 October, Suella Braveman ruined the contract for the UK-India trade deal while expressing his concerns over the rapid increase in Indian migration toward the UK.

An announcement on visa agreement was made during the bilateral meeting of the UK Prime Minister with Narendra Modi. Rishi Sunak highlighted his opinion regarding not sacrificing quality for speed during the talks on the UK-India trade deal. Both Prime Ministers had an overview over the margins of the summit on Tuesday morning.

While speaking to the reporters during the trip to the G20 summit, Rishi Sunak stated that the deal of trade with India is a fantastic opportunity for the UK. Furthermore, he added that he wouldn’t compromise on the quality of the speed. They must follow the approach of getting it right rather than rushing over it.

UK Prime Minister, Sunak further added that the trade deal with India is just a part of a broader relationship that is more strategic and incredibly strong based on different policy aspects. According to him, trade is essential, and further progress will be gradually improved.

Up to a quarter of international students from India are studying in the UK, and trade is worth £24 billion.
