The Prime Minister Of UK, Rishi Sunak has declared a U-turn on various UK net zero policies. This blog will give you a better insight about it!
A Ban Delay By Rishi Sunak
Recently, there has been a major shift in policies as a ban delay over selling new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 to 2035 was announced by Rishi Sunak. According to the Prime Minister, the target for this shift is that by 2050 there will be net zero carbon emission and the UK will align with nations such as France and Germany. Another side of this announcement is to ease the energy efficiency targets for rental properties and gas boilers replacement with heat pumps. However, there have been some concerns over this plan especially as the general election is around the corner and the current crisis about cost-of-living.
After the policy shift there have been quite discussions where some sides with this pragmatic approach while others are against it as this impacts the UK’s commitment of fighting against climate change. The upcoming months will tell the ways these changes will affect the political and environmental landscape of the UK.
