Starting November 23, 2024, the work experience requirement for the Temporary Skills Shortage Visa (subclass 482) will be reduced from two years to one year. This change will make it easier for skilled workers to qualify for this visa, addressing labor shortages in critical sectors.
Introduction of MATES Program for Indian Nationals
New Mobility Scheme
From November 1, 2024, the Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early Professionals Scheme (MATES) will allow 3,000 Indian graduates and professionals to live and work in Australia for up to two years. Applicants must be under 30 years old and hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in fields such as renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and engineering. This visa does not require sponsorship and will operate on a ballot system.
