Today, we are going to share with you the latest updates on the immigration lottery for parents and grandparents program (PGP) 2022.
IRCC has announced that about 23,100 invitations to apply to sponsors in PGP 2022 have been handed out. The lottery for PGP 2022 has now been completed.
PGP is aimed to reunite families in Canada. Canadian sponsors can reunite with their parents and grandparents as they can obtain the status of Canadian permanent resident and enjoy the benefits of living in the country such as high-quality healthcare and a path to Canadian citizenship sooner or later.
The IRCC after completing the lottery between October 12 and October 20 confirmed on its website that it has finished the distribution of 23,100 invitations to apply to sponsors in the parents and grandparents program 2022 pool.
In a similar way to the parents and grandparents program in 2021, IRCC settled not to grant a new round of interest to sponsor submissions in 2022. Rather, they made the decision to provide the invitation to apply for the 2022 PGP to more of the interested sponsors who submitted an utterance of interest in the Fall of 2022 through IRCC’s website.
Those interested sponsors who received an invitation in the newest PGP season will want to verify their eligibility for the program once again before they submit the application. PGP sponsorship candidates have until December 24, 2022, to submit their completed application, as of the date an invitation to apply (ITA) is received.
The lottery invitations for PGP persist as some of the most desired invitations to apply (ITAs) in the whole immigration space of Canada. The number of application spots available is always outstripped by interested Canadian sponsors who want to bring their parents and grandparents to Canada. IRCC revealed that it received more than 200,000 interest to sponsor forms in October/November 2022. This, in fact, is a very huge number considering the range of the sponsor pool within which ITAs were distributed by IRCC.
In the 2022 cycle of PGP, Canada intends to keep cutting into that pool of 155,000 remaining interested sponsors by obtaining and processing 15,000 completed applications for PGP from the given out 23,100 invitations to apply (ITAs).
