Australia Suspends Visa Route for New Zealand Nationals
In this blog, we are going to briefly address the news of the suspension of a visa route for New Zealand nationals interested in migrating to Australia.
Australia has temporarily discontinued the Subclass 189 Skilled Independent Visa stream with New Zealand till 1 July 2023.
The Subclass 189 Skilled Independent Visa stream for New Zealand nationals was suspended by the government of Australia. This suspension is going to stay in effect until 1 July 2023.
However, the Australian government aims to process most of the applications submitted before 10 December 2022 till the suspension ends. Plus, the government is going to eliminate income and healthcare requirements for all pending applications.
Why did the Australian Government Suspend the Subclass 189 Visa Scheme?
The Subclass 189 Skilled Independent Visa route was suspended by the Australian government, which means you cannot submit any new applications. The government states that the decision to temporarily suspend the subclass 189 visa route was taken to figure out the future of migration and citizenship pathways for New Zealand nationals living in Australia at the moment.
