The program of General Skilled Migration (GSM) 2023-24 is open now, and the state’s 2023–24 Skilled Occupation List has been published by the South Australian Government. Learn more about it through this blog.
South Australia has shifted towards a Registration of Interest (ROI) process to handle the high demand coming from applicants who are settled and employed in the state against restricted allotment of nomination places. This means that to get an invitation to apply for state nominations by South Australia, an ROI must be submitted by potential applicants. Applying for state nominations directly is not possible for potential applicants.
Under the invitation process, the retention of South Australia’s international graduates and temporary visa holders will be a priority.
Experienced overseas workers who have highly demanded skills in South Australia will be the ones targeted through invitation. This includes professions like:
- Trades and Construction
- Defence
- Health
- Education
- Natural and Physical Science
- Social and Welfare Professionals
Overseas workers who will be able to strongly contribute to the fast-growing industries and projects of national priority for the state are also sought by South Australia. This includes individuals with:
- Experience working in the defence industry
- Highly specialised skills in the digital and critical technology sectors.
