Are you a skilled worker looking to shift to Australia? This is the right time, as eligible candidates, whether in states or not, can apply for the 2023-2024 Skilled Migration State Nomination Program for New South Wales (NSW). This blog will tell you more.
This year, there have been several changes in the program from the previous year.
Shift in Focus to Priority Sectors
NSW is now shifting its attention towards the priority sector to address the skilled worker shortage. They are not relying on a skilled occupation list alone. The intense need for skilled professionals will remain the priority. However, high-ranking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from non-priority sectors will be reviewed too. The sectors being targeted are:
- Health
- Education
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
- Infrastructure
- Agriculture
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to get a state nomination in NSW, you should ensure the following:
- All visa requirements set by the Department of Home Affairs should be fulfilled.
- Have a valid Skills Assessment in a priority sector job that NSW has specified.
- Have been living in NSW for at least six months or live overseas for a minimum of six months.
Invitation Rounds
No fixed date has been announced for the invitation rounds. However, the invitation round for the upcoming Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) is anticipated to start on October 2, 2023.
