In the year 2024, Australian passport holders enjoy the pleasure of visa-free travel to 189 global destinations, as per the Henley Passport Index. This breakdown, utilizing data from the International Air Transport Authority (IATA), assess the travel freedom of 199 national passports across 227 locations. Australians now rank sixth worldwide in travel freedom, together with New Zealand, Czechia, and Poland, with European countries like France and Germany leading the chart.

Australians can reconnoitre 50 European countries without a visa, including popular destinations like Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. Closer to home, Oceania offers visa-free travel to places like Fiji and New Zealand, while Asia welcomes Australians to 14 countries, including Malaysia and the Philippines, without a visa. The Americas and the Caribbean are equally accessible, with over 20 destinations like Argentina and Jamaica permitting visa-free entry.

In Africa, 17 locations including Morocco and Rwanda are available for visa-free exploration. The Middle East also presents visa-free opportunities in five countries, including Qatar and Oman. Furthermore, more than 40 countries worldwide, for example Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, offer visas or permits on arrival, with ETAs available in eight countries including the Sri Lanka and United States.

On the other hand, caution is notified for certain destinations like Iran and Ukraine, where the Government of Australia recommends against travel. For countries like North Korea and China in Asia, and Russia in Europe, Australians must attain visas before travel.
