Today we bring you an important update for athletes planning to travel to the UK to enhance their skills. According to the Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules published on December 7, 2023, the Home Office has decided to change some visa categories for 2024.

The International Sportsperson visa is developed for internationally acknowledged individuals, including qualified coaches and elite sportspeople, who want to flourish their sports careers to the highest level in the UK.

With effect from January 31, 2024, the route of the International Sportsperson visa will be changed to correct a former error that occurred while drafting the rules. This amendment enables international sportspersons to apply for entry clearance from any country they live in, provided that they are applying for 12 months or less and that the candidate can prove their lawful residence in that country and that they are engaged in sporting activities.
