If you are relying on an international university degree for a UK visa application, you will have to fulfill language or educational requirements. To meet these requirements, you will need to get an Ecctis certificate.
Ecctis – previously known as UK NARIC, is the official partner of the UK authorities in providing recognition and evaluation of international qualifications and skills.
For most visa categories, you must show either your education level, that you fulfill English language requirements, or both.
One of the methods you could provide proof of is obtaining a degree from an international university, which must be Ecctis certified in the UK to meet the appropriate conditions of your visa.
What Is Ecctis?
For UK visa applications, Ecctis is the only body that can certify the equivalency of an international university degree to that from a UK university and whether the degree was conducted in English. For the High Potential Individual route, Ecctis will also verify the year of graduation, which is crucial in deciding whether you are eligible for the visa.
If you are an English-speaking country’s national and have studied in a majority English-speaking country, the only validation you will require to gain is that your non-UK degree is equivalent to a UK degree.
Suppose you are not a national of a majority English-speaking country, and you have studied either in your country of nationality or in a majority English-speaking country. In that case, you will still require verification of your degree comparability and that the course was taught in English.
