The Department of State’s National Visa Center (NVC) reported a decrease in the green card backlog. It seems that the number of pending cases decreased by 4.8% from 408,465 in February to 388,908 in March.
This month, the number of green card applicants who had submitted applications with complete documentation and were waiting for an interview decreased from 444,828 to 439,131. The total number of documentarily completed cases decreased by 6000.
In case you are wondering, documentarily complete cases refer to applications in which all the required documents and forms are provided and accepted by the NVC, and applicants are waiting to have their interview scheduled.
Another interesting thing to note here is that the number of people scheduled for green card interviews increased significantly, even though the number of pending cases saw a minimal decrease. In March, the NVC scheduled 50,223 interviews, which is a lot compared to February, when only 36,732 interviews were scheduled.
