Are you a skilled worker who wants to move to Western Australia? At the beginning of this year, the Government of Western Australia made some modifications to its migration program, which in turn opened the doors for more skilled immigrants to live long-term in the Golden State.
Skill Lists Modified To Add New Occupations
Western Australian government modified the eligible occupations lists to around 60 percent for the skilled migration period of 2022-23.
Additions of new professions were made to both the Western Australian Skilled Migration Occupation List Schedule 2 (WASMOL Schedule 2) and Western Australian Skilled Migration Occupation List Schedule 1 (WASMOL Schedule 1). All in all, more than 100 new professions were added, which include 46 professions in the health care sector, bringing the total number to 276 professions.
A few examples of the newly included jobs are as follows:
- Pharmacy Technician (Schedule 1)
- Hairdresser (Schedule 2)
- Enrolled Nurse (Schedule 1)
- Accommodation and Hospitality Managers (Schedule 2)
Removal of Requirement For Sufficient Funds And Waiver To Application Fee
The Western Australian Government has temporarily waived the $200 application fee starting from 1 July 2022. Moreover, candidates who have applied after this date will not be required to show evidence of sufficient funds for Western Australian State nomination.
Reduced Requirement For The English Language
The requirement for the English language has been lowered for the Manager and Professional occupation level candidates under the 2022-23 Western Australia Skilled Migration Program. Candidates of this level will only have to show a ‘competent’ ability in English. The recent invitation round for Western Australia was expected to take place within the third week of September 2022.
