In this blog, we’ll see if a UK dependent visa holder can seek employment.
For those who don’t know, the word ‘dependent’ in UK immigration is for family members whose visa applications are directly related to the primary visa holder.
For instance, a person who applies for a UK Skilled Worker visa would be regarded as the primary applicant, while their children and partner would be referred to as dependents.
Interestingly, individuals with dependent visas are allowed to work and study in the UK.
However, a dependent visa holder cannot access public funds in the UK or seek employment as a professional sportsperson or coach. But they are free to pursue other jobs or even indulge in self-employment.
UK visa holders are advised to fully understand the terms and conditions of their respective visas and comply with them. Otherwise, they may face problems while applying for renewal or Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK.
