When Can Applicants Start Requesting Premium Processing Service?

The premium processing service for some Form I-539 applicants will be expanded in two phases.

USCIS will begin accepting Form I-907 requests filed online or via paper from 13 June 2023 for the following applicants.

  • Those looking for a change of status to F-1, F-2, M-1, M-2, J-1, or J-2
  • Applicants who have a pending Form I-539
  • Application to Extend/Change nonimmigrant status

Similarly, USCIS will start accepting Form I-907 requests filed online or via paper for applicants looking for a change of status to F-1, F-2, M-1, M-2, J-1, or J-2 from 26 June 2023. It must be filed with Form I-539.

It is important to note that premium processing requests for a pending Form I-539 will be rejected by USCIS if they are filed before 13 June 2023. Moreover, USCIS will not entertain premium processing requests filed with Form I-539 before 26 June 2023.

How Long Will The Premium Processing Service Take?

It will take 30 calendar days for Form I-539 applicants who request a change of status to F-1, F-2, M-1, M-2, J-1, or J-2 nonimmigrant status, provided that all prerequisites are fulfilled properly. Don’t forget to submit the receipt for biometrics since the timer will not start until you have met the biometrics requirement.
