NEW COVID-19 TRAVEL LIST ISSUED BY UK GOVERNMENT

Germany is one of seven countries being inserted into the green list, while the expenditure for solo travellers lodging at a quarantine hotel will go up from 12 August 2021, from £1,750 to £2,250.

Fully vaccinated passengers and under 18s coming to England from France will no longer be required to isolate, while India is no more in the red list.

The Department for Transport has announced the UK government’s latest COVID-19 travel update, with all of the modifications taking effect from 4am on Sunday 8 August, 2021.

There were doubts that Spain – where it is assumed up to a million Britons are presently on holiday – could have been moved to the red list.

Spain will stay in the amber category, even though passengers coming back from Spain are being requested to take a PCR test before coming back home “as a protection against the amplified frequency of the Covid-19 virus and its variants in the country”.

Many individuals presently use lateral flow tests, which are inexpensive, to fulfil the testing obligation.

In a surprise attempt, the cost for solo travellers lodging at a quarantine hotel will increase from 12 August 2021, from £1,750 to £2,285.

The fee for an additional adult sharing a room will upsurge to £1,430 from £650.

According to the UK government, this is to “better contemplate the intensified costs included “.

Seven countries are shifting to the green list which includes Austria, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

This denotes that people will not have to quarantine when coming back from these nations, in spite of of their vaccination status, even though they will have to take a pre-departure test afore coming back home and another two days after arrival.

Bahrain, India, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates will shift from the red list to amber, meaning passengers will no longer have to pay to quarantine in a hotel for 11 days.

Coming back from amber list countries has generally meant a 10-day period quarantining at home – but under-18s and those fully vaccinated in the UK are now excused, together with those who have received both vaccines in the EU and US.

Please keep in mind that there are four additions to the red list which includes: Georgia Mexico, and the French overseas territories of La Reunion and Mayotte.

The UK government mentioned that its decision to discard the amber plus list that France was on and bring it into line with the rest of the amber category “streamlines the system to three categories” yet again.

But the green watch list, which provides travellers notice of countries whose green status is at jeopardy of changing, stays in place and is unaffected with 16 countries on the list.
