Did you know that Canada Immigration has now shifted the Pearson Test of English Core (PTE Core) acceptance expected time frame to early 2024.
In the past, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) stated that they were foreseeing accepting the PTE Core English proficiency test for immigration programs by the end of 2023.
On the other hand, this anticipated time frame has now shifted to early 2024. Only Pearson Canada, Inc. is the authorized body in charge of administering PTE Core.
Applicants every so often confuse this with the PTE Academic test for the SDS (Student Direct Stream) study permit or visa, but PTE Core is only for permanent residency: economic immigration programs.
Simple PTE Academic is still authorized for SDS study visas and permits since 10 August, 2023, along with three other new English proficiency tests.
Please keep in mind that economic programs include all the Express Entry categories, Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), Caregivers, Agri-Food Pilot, Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP), Economic Mobility Pathways Project (EMPP), Atlantic Immigration Program, Quebec Skilled Workers, and Business Class.

What are the English language proficiency tests authorized for Canadian immigration?
Please keep in mind that the authorized English language proficiency tests for Canadian immigration are IELTS (International English Language Testing System) General Training and CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) General Test.
Don’t forget that the Pearson Test of English Core (PTE Core) is expected to be authorized by IRCC as of early 2024.
