The backlog for Immigrant Visa dropped by about 4,000 cases. But it seems there’s more to the story.
For the third time in a row, the immigrant’s visa backlog has been reduced by the Department of State’s National Visa Centre (NVC) as the number of individuals expecting green card interviews dropped by a little more than 4,000 during August to September.
This fall constitutes a reduction in the backlog ratio by only 1%. Although this is very minimal, even a small reduction in the backlog of green cards can be proved as an achievement.
Total 32,175 interviews were set up for September, 2022. It was not as much as compared to the month of August,2022 where around 32,888 interviews were conducted.
Based on the suggested theory; even if 10% of those approved cases were transferred to NVC, it would have resulted in receiving up to 7,000 cases in each month of FY2022. However the number of cases received by NVC every month may be even more than expected. It means that NVC is reducing the number of backlogs of the remaining cases by artificially keeping cases away from the backlogs.
