For the PGWP program, new rules are being implemented by the Canadian government.

  • International students can apply for a 3-year PGWP if they have completed their Master’s degree program, even under two years.
  • PGWP enables its holders to work for any employer anywhere in Canada.
  • From Sep 1, 2024, the students registered in curriculum licensing agreement programs will no longer be eligible for a PGWP.

How Long Does It Take to Get a PGWP?

While you are waiting for your PGWP to be processed, you are allowed to work in Canada if you’ve submitted your application before the expiration of your study permit. You have 180 days from the time you finish your study program to apply for your PGWP. However, if you’ve left Canada after completing your education, you can now apply for a PGWP from abroad.
