There has been quite tension between Canada and India due to the case of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. So, what impact has it made on Canadian visa holders? Learn all about it in this blog.
Diplomatic Standoff Between India and Canada
Recently, the Canadian High Commission in India has stated that a few of its diplomats are receiving cyber threats, due to which staff adjustment in India has been made. The diplomatic tension between the two nations began with Canada’s allegation about “agents of the Indian government” being involved in the case of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey British Columbia, earlier in June.
Implications for Visa Holders
An Indian visa agency has raised these questions for visa holders for both countries:
Current Visa Status: There are no travel restrictions on valid Indian visa holders, nor is there a reason for concern.
Travel to Canada: If you have a valid visa, then you can travel with ease, and the current situation does not affect if you want to come and go to Canada.
Children and Travel: Children who have valid visas can return from Canada easily.
Holiday Plans: IIf you’re planning a holiday to Canada or you possess a valid Indian visa, then there is no need to be worried about the current situation. Your travel plan won’t be affected.
The most important point is that the notice affects only new visa applications. Holders of existing valid visas will face no travel restrictions.
